      @@bobcooke5230 thank you. I really appreciate that. I am interested in hearing about,(and obviously I am seeking reassurance and this is just my personal experience as a client and you will probably need to address this more generally) I have these questions: Should councellors in training make the client aware they are in training? Can you break boundaries as a client if you are not given any and just being yourself in a respectful way? If a councellor is obviously distressed after 6 months and the client suggests they see their supervisor, is it ok for them to dump you in one session with no referall or support except to remind the client they can call the Samaritans? Is it OK that it was the supervisor who ended it as ‘the councellor was too distressed and unequipped to deal with my boundary breaking behaviours’. All I did was sit on the floor and draw a picture of him. If you are able to express to learning therapists the damage that is done by these types of actions - especially to someone with cptsd/attachment issues I will feel that the intense distress caused to me will have been worth something. I have now found a councellor who suits me better but to be frank if I was a young person going through this I probably wouldn’t be here to tell the tale. Thanks. Sorry. Long x

    I had stumbled upon the term “Alexathymia“, which is the inability for a person to articulate their feelings. They have feelings within, but struggle to articulate emotions outwardly to others. Would you mind commenting on your thoughts about how Alexiathymia plays into avoidant attachment, and whether you think its definition is relevant in treating avoidant attached clients? Thank you

    NO! Please stop. The end goal of all systems is NOT integration or fusion. Please look up the work of Dr. Jamie Marich or Joanne Twombly. The fact you even brough up "Split" or "Sybil" is absolutely ridiculous because both are fiction and not DID at all. This is dangerous and exactly why (we) as a system have to teach functional multiplicity to the clinicians we work with. Your singlet bias needs to stop. There is no "Capital S" self in our system. We are all equal and integration = murder. Who are you going to integrate or fuse to? Our youngest and possibly the largest trauma holder? Yes we need help. Yes we hallucinate. Yes we "wake up" in weird places; sometimes in the middle of eating a meal and that's a whole level of what the heck is going on. We do NOT need to work with people who refuse to learn the newest ideas and understand the suicide rate is higher when you try to force integration on systems. So please.... please ... please sign up for the next DID conference and learn the trauma informed way. #psychosisisnotacrime #ffusiontherapy #diddeservesbetter

    I generally love your shows and have a low bar for pedantry but Dr Spock was an American paediatrician, Mr Spock is the Vulcan. Also Data is in Star Trek the Next Generation, not Voyager. I’m wondering if these were deliberate mistakes in order to help disembodied Schizoids like me get in touch with their emotions. If so, it was a masterstroke!

    Every time vulnerability is shown, it has been used against them and to hurt at a later date, it leads to shutting that side down and turning that emotional side off. being asked "how does that make you feel / how you feeling?" By a non ta therapist within a couple of sessions and was unable to even process the question as nobody had ever asked me that before, so just stared blankly "confused? im not sure what to say?" I had no idea what they were on about... and the therapist got belligerent with a lot of eye rolling and face pulling "this could take you years to get" with no explaination... did 4 sessions and they left me feeling that there was something clinically wrong with me... training in ta myself now, love the podcast xx

    I would personally like to open 'Pandoras Box' with my studies into Narcissism and the alarming number of Narcissists and Narcissistic people who set themselves up as therapists, councillors and psychologists etc. It's all about keeping up the 'facade' for the Narcissist isn't it but unfortunately for them, ultimately it doesn't end well.

    Heya :). I'm a trainee counsellor with DID. It's such a normal thing to happen to the mind under circumstances where you have disorganised attachment and trauma that has no way of being processed at the time. I think a lot of it is treated as freaky or mystical - people, including professionals, dissociate from DID - it's a diagnosis that names an elephant in the room. So in a sense, I think it's up to clinicians to work on 'integrating' with the knowledge that unthinkable abuse happens that doesn't seem to make sense - because society covers up a lot and we all turn a blind eye sometimes - and also the brilliant and often unseen defences the mind has for surviving, just as much as it's the clients' task to slowly and gently get to understand and accept the reality of our lives. There are so few people who will sit with us as we are, in our full humanness. Just doing that is a real gift.

    Girl (33) who fell in love together with their (group)therapist (37) last year! Now, 1Y later we would have gotten married probably if we would't have been found out. Find it very unethical that I am not allowed to be in a relationship with whom I am in love with. Find it so sad for him that hé not only lost the love of his life, but also lost a part of his professional opportunities such a lading a group. Simply because we knew we loved each other, came as a surprise halfway through, no physical contact or speaking to each other for more than neccesary. I have always felt completely safe with him, and I am harsh on men that are nasty in any way. I was able to make him feel safe too❤️ Well, if anyone's curious, please hit me up because I'd love to proces this, since it feels terribly unjust as I am independent and feel as his equal.

    My therapist (M50) just hit on me (F30) . I'm so shaken because he was the only one I opened up in years. Now I regret that, I don't think that I can have therapy again. I'm feeling abused and manipulated. He's very well aware that I'm not able to set boundaries. I'm feeling betrayed. Did it happen because I have BPD and looked helpless to him? My friend is blaming me for not setting boundaries with him before. I bought a little pot of flowers for his birthday, also to thank him for delaying my payments (which I didn't ask for, he wanted to continue when I lost my job). it's so stupid that I got traumatized by my therapist 😢

    • @benoody6766
      @benoody6766 Місяць тому

      I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. This is absolutely not your fault. Therapists are very strongly trained to never cross these boundaries, and what he did is entirely unprofessional and unethical. Please don't blame yourself. Having BPD or any other condition does not make this your fault in any way. You go to therapy to find support, and you deserve to feel safe and respected there. I strongly urge you to report this therapist to the appropriate licensing board or regulatory body. It’s possible that he could be a repeat offender, and reporting him could protect others from experiencing the same harm, especially younger, more vulnerable clients. Your bravery in speaking out is so important. I hope you find the support you need and deserve.
